See the Directory page for information on using the directory key.

MN.IT offers a set of custom phone services to all of its IP Telephony (VoIP) users. This page describes the services and how to use them.

Some organizations have worked with MN.IT to offer services specific to that organization. Phones in those organizations will have more choices than are shown here.

Enabling Custom Services

The Cisco Unified CM User Options Website (PDF) document walks you through the process of setting up your telephone for Custom Services under IP Phone Services.

Using Custom Services

You use the services by pressing the services key on your IP telephone. Once pressed, you will be presented with the SERVICES screen.

You select MN.IT's services either by using the Up/Down triangle rocker keys and pressing the soft key labelled "Select." Or, you can press the number key by the service name.

Home Screen

The home screen looks like:

Custom Services
 1Directory
 2Notifications

As with any Cisco phone screen, you can navigate either by using the Up/Down triangle rocker keys and pressing the soft key labelled "Select." Or, by pressing the number key that corresponds to the desired item.

Directory

The Directory screen looks like:

Directories
 1Site
 2White Pages by Name
 3White Pages by Org

Not all entries will be visible at once. As with any Cisco phone screen, you can navigate either by using the Up/Down triangle rocker keys and pressing the soft key labelled "Select." Or, by pressing the number key that corresponds to the desired item.

The first three entries are maintained by your telephone.

Site

This choice asks for a name and performs a lookup of the name within your site's directory entries. Further, any per-department or per-site additional entries (added by your telecommunications coordinator) are included in the returned results. The source of the data is the telephone system itself.

White Pages by Name

This choice asks for a name and performs a lookup of the name within the State's White Pages. The source of the data is MMB and any corrections should be forwarded by your telecommunications coordinator to your human resources staff, who in turn will forward them to MMB.

White Pages by Org

This choice brings you to:

  • a screen to select a range of organizations, then
  • a screen containing a list of organizations in the selected range, then
  • a screen for entering a name.

The name is then looked up in the State's White Pages. The source of the data is MMB and any corrections should be forwarded by your telecommunications coordinator to your human resources staff, who in turn will forward them to MMB.

Entering Names

When entering a name, the first field is used to select some or all of the first name, the second field is used to select some or all of the last name, and the last field is used to select some or all of the telephone number. You can use the keypad to cycle through and select letters. It does not matter whether a letter is in upper or lower case: an "A" matches an "a".

At most 31 entries will be returned, so if the name you want isn't returned, try entering longer search strings.

You can select a name and press the "Dial" or "EditDial" soft keys to dial the associated number. For numbers that are toll calls to telephones that are not part of our VoIP system, you will need to use "EditDial" and enter a 1 after the "9" to dial from the directory.

Notifications

The Notifications screen looks like:

MN.IT Notifications
 1Status
 2Changes
 3Critical-1
 4e-fax-changes
 5mail-changes
 6net-changes
 7video-changes
 8voice-changes
 9voice-ip-changes

Not all choices will be shown at once: you can use the Up/Down triangle rocker to view other choices.

The Status item shows the notification(s) (if any) currently on the main status screen (at http://www.mnet.state.mn.us/status).

Each of the other choices brings up notifications sent to the specific notification path. (Notifications and paths are described in the Notifications page.). Choosing a path brings up this screen:

PATH
 1last 12 hours
 2last 2 days
 3last week

and brings up notifications for the indicated path that were sent in the chosen time interval.
